Description

Most grey wraps either go flat and lifeless or lean hard into a bright metallic shine. Gunsmoke Grey does neither. It holds a soft, hazy graphite tone with just enough metallic depth to keep it from ever looking flat.

Key Attributes

  • Soft, hazy graphite tone: a muted, smoky grey that stays consistent rather than flashing bright in direct light
  • Quiet metallic depth: a fine silver coating underneath keeps the color from reading flat, without the loud flash of a brighter metallic
  • Satin-over-metalized base: built the same way as TeckWrap's satin chrome line, for depth without a mirror shine
  • Clean chemistry: Henkel solvent-based acrylic adhesive, transparent and weather-resistant, removes residue-free
  • Smooth lay-down: high-grade release liner keeps the film tension-flat, reducing orange-peel texture during install
  • Paint-safe: removable adhesive protects the factory finish underneath

Gunsmoke Grey doesn't chase attention the way a brighter silver does. In any light, it holds a soft, ashy graphite tone, closer to drifting smoke than polished metal. Look closely and there's a quiet metallic shimmer underneath, just enough to keep the color from reading flat or dead, without ever flashing bright the way a liquid-silver metallic does. It's the quieter, more restrained half of TeckWrap's satin-grey lineup, built for owners who want understated over eye-catching.

OEM Match

  • Closest to Mercedes-Benz Selenite Grey
  • Same soft, ashy quality as Porsche Chalk
  • Quieter and more muted than BMW Mineral Grey Metallic
  • Softer than a bright performance-silver metallic

That quiet, understated grey that Mercedes and Porsche reserve for their subtler special colors now fits a Civic, Model Y, or Wrangler just as easily as a C-Class or 911.

Warranty

  • With proper care and a ceramic coating, this matte metallic finish offers up to 3 years of outdoor durability on vertical panels and around 2 year across a full wrap, depending on climate zone.
  • It is more delicate than gloss, and parking indoors or under cover extends its life. Heat-removable, with minimal adhesive residue when removed within the recommended period.

Application

  • Application temperature +17°C to +23°C
  • Tools: soft squeegee with buffer
  • Conformability: flat and moderate curves, deep recesses with inlays
  • Post-heat: 100°C
  • Cure: 24 hrs above 10°C, 48 hrs at room temperature recommended
  • Overlap: 4 to 5 mm
  • Directional film, check orientation before cutting
  • Avoid overstretching during application
  • Remove protective cap before install

Care and maintenance

  • This is a flat matte metallic finish and it needs more care than a gloss or satin wrap. Outdoor durability is shorter than gloss and satin and depends heavily on climate, washing habits, and whether the vehicle is kept indoors. Parking under cover meaningfully extends the finish.
  • Wait 48 hours after installation before the first wash so the adhesive can fully set.
  • Hand wash only, using a pH-neutral shampoo (pH 3 to 11) and a clean microfiber mitt. Rinse grit away first, wash gently, then dry with a clean microfiber towel.
  • Avoid automatic car washes, brushes, abrasive pads, and high-pressure washers. All of these mark a matte surface.
  • Never use waxes, polishes, gloss enhancers, or any product containing solvents or petroleum distillates. These raise the sheen unevenly, dull the matte, and can permanently degrade the film.
  • A vinyl-safe, matte-compatible ceramic coating is recommended for added protection and easier cleaning. Standard gloss coatings will change a matte finish, so use a matte-rated product. Aftermarket coatings are applied at the owner's discretion and any coating-related damage is not covered.
  • Spot-clean fingerprints, fuel, bird droppings, and tree sap as soon as
possible. The longer they sit, the more likely they stain.
  • Always test any cleaner or coating in a hidden area before treating the whole vehicle.

How TeckWrap compares

Not all film is the same

Cheap film won't last a season. Legacy brands charge a brand premium. TeckWrap sits in the middle: professional-grade film at an honest price.

$80 to $350 per roll. Cheap upfront, then you pay a shop to strip it.

Film construction

Monomeric calendered vinyl. Shrinks back off the edges within months.

Release liner

Paper liner. Curls in storage and telegraphs into the finish.

Adhesive system

Rubber based. Grabs on contact and leaves residue on removal.

Warranty and removal

None stated, or a term with nothing behind it.

Color and finish range

A short list of solids. Color drifts between production batches.
