Description

Gray is the easiest color to get wrong, too flat and it reads like primer, too metallic and it turns into cheap sparkle. TeckWrap Dark Grey Silk holds the middle. It sits as a deep, cool anthracite for most of the day, then releases fine silver and gunmetal highlights only when the light catches it, all under a soft silk-satin sheen.

Key Attributes

  • Cool anthracite base: a deep graphite grey with cool charcoal undertones, clearly grey, never drifting toward black or blue.
  • Silk-satin sheen: a fine, low-luster surface, softer than standard satin, that looks smooth and paint-like and keeps swirl marks and fingerprints from showing.
  • Metallic that stays subtle: silver and gunmetal flake that sits quiet in flat light and only lifts when the sun hits, adding depth without ever turning flashy.
  • Directional film: metallic films are directional, so every panel is oriented the same way and run from one production LOT per car to keep the sheen even across the whole vehicle.
  • Henkel adhesive, clean removal: transparent solvent acrylic adhesive with air-release channels lays flat and bubble-free, holds through weather, and heat-removes cleanly within the recommended window.

For most of the day, Dark Gray Silk reads as a solid, cool anthracite, the kind of understated gray that looks equally at home on an executive saloon and a track build. The silk-satin surface stays even and muted until the light shifts, and then fine silver and gunmetal reflections surface across the hood, roof, and flanks, giving the panels quiet dimension instead of sparkle. Set beside a flat matte grey it looks richer and more finished; beside a gloss metallic it looks calmer and more expensive.

OEM Match

  • Closest to Audi Daytona Gray Pearl rendered in satin rather than gloss, the same cool gunmetal tone.
  • In the same family as BMW Frozen Dark Gray Metallic, a touch lighter and cooler.
  • Darker and more metallic than Audi Nardo Gray.
  • More refined than standard gloss gunmetals like Porsche Agate Gray Metallic.
  • Cooler and greyer than a black-based satin such as our own Satin Black Silver.

OEM gunmetal grays this refined usually come only in gloss, or as a costly matte-metallic special order. TeckWrap Dark Gray Silk delivers that anthracite-and-silver look in satin on an RS Q8, a Model S, a G-Wagon, or any car off the lot, no special order required.

Warranty

Built for long-term outdoor use, with up to 3 years of durability on vertical panels and around 2 years across a full wrap, depending on climate zone. Horizontal surfaces such as roofs, hoods, and bonnets take the most sun and weather and carry a shorter expected life. The warranty covers manufacturing defects such as bubbling, cracking, and adhesive failure when the film is properly stored, professionally installed, and maintained per the care guidance. It does not cover abrasion, scratches, gloss change, or normal wear. Heat-removable within 2 years for the cleanest removal, with minimal adhesive residue.

Application

  • Surface: apply only to a clean, sound, fully cured OEM factory finish. Repainted, primed, aftermarket, or damaged surfaces can affect adhesion and removal and fall outside warranty coverage.
  • Apply at +17°C to +23°C
  • Tools: squeegee, buffer, knife, masking tape, heat gun, magnets, gloves, IR thermometer
  • Conformability: smooth and medium-curved surfaces
  • Post-heat: 100°C
  • Cure: 24 hrs above 10°C (48 hrs at room temperature recommended)
  • Overlap: 3 to 4 mm
  • Directional film, especially metallic and pearlescent colors. Keep film orientation consistent across all panels and use one production LOT per vehicle to avoid color shift between panels.
  • Avoid overstretching during application
  • Remove the protective cap before installing
  • Professional installation strongly recommended for the best result and to keep the warranty valid
  • Aftercare: hand wash with a pH-neutral shampoo (pH 3 to 11). Avoid waxes, solvents, and petroleum-distillate products, and never use automatic washes, brushes, or high-pressure washers.
