Calendered, and no. Cast and calendered are two ways of making vinyl, not two quality grades. Cast is thinner and bends further, which suits deep recesses. Calendered is thicker, so it takes stone chips, brushes and door dings, and it covers the paint underneath instead of showing it through.

Yes, and that is the whole limitation. The pattern is embossed into the surface and stretch flattens it. A carbon weave pulled hard over a curve reads shallow and plastic next to the panel beside it. Keep stretch off any face where the texture is the point.

Plan the car before the first cut. Weave and brush direction has to run the same way across neighboring panels or the car looks assembled from parts. Lay pieces out dry, mark direction on the liner, and take a seam rather than rotating a piece to save film.
