Products & Range
What types of films does TeckWrap offer?
We produce four main product categories:
- Color Change Vinyl Wraps — gloss, matte, satin, chrome, metallic, chameleon, and structured finishes for changing your vehicle's look
- Paint Protection Film (PPF) — clear protective film and Color PPF for safeguarding against rock chips, scratches, and road damage
- Window Films — heat rejection, UV protection, and privacy tints with seven product series
- Printable Films & Lamination — for custom graphics, commercial signage, and branded wraps
What's the difference between vinyl wrap, PPF, and window film?
Three different products for three different jobs:
- Vinyl wrap changes your car's appearance — new color, new finish, new texture
- Paint Protection Film (PPF) protects your paint from rock chips, scratches, and road damage. Self-healing and nearly invisible
- Window film reduces heat, glare, and UV through your car's windows
Many customers use all three together — PPF on high-impact areas, vinyl for color, window film for comfort.

Installation
Can I install a vinyl wrap myself?
Both DIY and professional installation are possible, but be realistic about your project.
Achievable for careful DIYers: motorcycle tanks, laptop skins, flat panels, hoods, roofs.
Recommended for professionals: full car wraps, paint protection film, complex curves, chrome and mirror finishes.
If you're new to wrapping, start small. Use quality tools. Watch our video tutorials before you begin.
What tools do I need for DIY installation?
Essential tools for a successful wrap:
- Surface prep: isopropyl alcohol, clay bar, microfiber cloths
- Application: felt-edge squeegee, measuring tape, sharp snap-blade knife
- Heat: adjustable heat gun
- Finishing: IR thermometer, masking tape, magnets
Proper tools make the difference between a professional-looking wrap and a frustrating project.
What temperature is best for installation?
The ideal installation environment is 18–22°C (65–72°F) — not too cold, not too hot, with low humidity and no direct sunlight or wind.
Keep both the vinyl and the vehicle at this temperature for at least 24 hours before installation. Cold conditions cause adhesion failure; hot conditions cause over-stretching and distortion.
How long does it take to install a full wrap?
A professional full car wrap typically takes 2–5 days, depending on vehicle complexity, finish type (chrome and satin take longer), and surface preparation needs. DIY installs usually take longer due to the learning curve.
Why does vinyl wrap peel, and how do I prevent it?
The five most common causes of peeling:
- Low-quality vinyl — cheap films lose adhesion quickly
- Poor surface preparation — any dirt, dust, grease, or wax creates weak spots
- Overstretching — the film wants to shrink back, pulling edges up
- Improper post-heating — edges and complex curves need heat to lock them in place
- Washing too soon — adhesive needs 48 hours to fully cure
Clean thoroughly, install in a temperature-controlled space, don't overstretch, post-heat all edges, and wait 48 hours before washing.

How do I wash my wrapped car?
TeckWrap vinyl is wash-ready after the adhesive fully cures (48 hours post-install). Follow these rules:
- Use pH-neutral automotive soap and a soft microfiber mitt
- Rinse thoroughly with clean water
- Dry with a microfiber towel or air-dry
- Avoid abrasive brushes, harsh chemicals, and solvent-based cleaners
Do not apply wax, polish, or ceramic coatings to vinyl wraps. These products are formulated for paint and can damage the film's finish.
Can I use a pressure washer?
Yes, but with caution:
- Keep the nozzle at least 30 cm (12 inches) from the surface
- Use warm water, not hot (under 60°C / 140°F)
- Never aim spray directly at edges or seams — water will lift the film
- Use a wide-angle nozzle, not a concentrated jet
When in doubt, hand-wash instead.
Can I wax or polish my vinyl wrap?
No. Waxes, polishes, and traditional car care products are formulated for painted surfaces and can damage vinyl — causing discoloration, streaking, and reduced lifespan. Use only products specifically labeled safe for vinyl wraps or follow the standard wash-only routine above.
How do I clean a matte finish wrap?
Matte finishes need extra care to preserve their look:
- Never use wax, polish, or gloss-enhancing products — these ruin the matte finish
- Never use rubbing compounds or abrasive cleaners
- Hand-wash only with pH-neutral matte-safe soap
- Dry with a clean microfiber towel, patting rather than rubbing
- Treat stubborn spots with matte-specific cleaning products
How long can I leave my car in the sun?
TeckWrap films offer excellent UV resistance — our PPF products resist UV at 95–99%, and all window films block ≥99% of UV rays. That said, extended direct-sun exposure shortens lifespan for all wraps. If possible, park in shade or garage your vehicle between uses.
Durability & Warranty
How long will my TeckWrap film last?
Durability depends on product, climate, installation quality, and care. Here's the official range:
| Product | Expected Durability |
|---|---|
| Color Change Vinyl (180/190 series) | 1–3 years depending on climate and exposure |
| Color PPF | 5 years |
| Clear PPF | 4–8 years depending on series |
| Window Films | 5–8 years depending on series |
| Printable Films | 2–3 years outdoor |
See individual product bulletins for exact figures.

Full warranty detailsWhat does the warranty cover and exclude?
Covered: manufacturing defects in material during the warranty period.
Not covered:
- Improper installation
- Damage from accidents, vandalism, or road debris
- Use of incorrect care products (waxes, polishes, harsh chemicals)
- Normal wear and transportation damage
- Labor costs for reinstallation
- Consequential or incidental damages
Each warranty claim is reviewed individually by TeckWrap.
How do I file a warranty claim?
Email crm@teckwrap.com with:
- Your order number
- Photos or videos of the defect
- LOT numbers from the packaging
- A clear description of the issue
Once approved, you'll receive instructions for next steps. We may replace the defective product at no charge or issue compensation, at TeckWrap's discretion.
Damage, Removal & Repairs
Can I remove the wrap without damaging my paint?
In most cases, yes — if three conditions are met:
- The original paint was in good condition before wrapping (no damage, rust, or previous paint repairs)
- The wrap is being removed within its warranty lifecycle (typically under 3–5 years)
- Proper heat is applied (around 60–70°C) to soften the adhesive before peeling
Old wraps, sun-baked wraps, or wraps on previously repaired paint may lift paint on removal. When in doubt, have a professional handle it.
Find a certified installerHow do I remove chrome and mirror chrome films safely?
Important: Chrome and mirror chrome films require different removal techniques than regular vinyl.
- Do NOT apply heat during chrome removal
- Pull the film off quickly at a low angle ("snap" it off)
- Expect some adhesive residue (up to 40%) on these finishes
- Use vinyl-safe adhesive remover and polishing to clean residue
For all other vinyl types, use heat + slow, low-angle pulling.
What happens if my wrap gets scratched or damaged?
Minor damage can often be repaired without replacing the whole wrap:
- Small scratches or scuffs — sometimes buffable on clear PPF (self-healing)
- Small tears or nicks — can be patched by a professional installer
- Larger damage — individual panels can be replaced without redoing the whole vehicle
For an assessment, contact a certified installer or reach out to us directly.
Find an installerCan peeling wrap be fixed without a full replacement?
Yes. Small lifting areas can usually be re-heated and re-adhered with proper tools. Catching lifting early is key — larger peeling typically requires replacing the affected panel. Regularly inspect your wrap's edges, corners, and grooves for early signs of lifting.

Legal, Insurance & Special Use
Do I need to tell my insurance company if I wrap my car?
Yes, in most places. A vinyl wrap changes your vehicle's appearance and may affect insurance records, claims processing, and resale documentation.
Before wrapping, contact your insurer. Tell them:
- The color change (from → to)
- Whether it's a full or partial wrap
- The installer (if professional)
Also check your local vehicle registration requirements — some countries require registering color changes.
Can I use TeckWrap for commercial fleet branding?
Absolutely. TeckWrap vinyl and printable films are widely used for commercial fleet wraps, branded delivery vehicles, and promotional graphics. Our printable films are compatible with solvent, eco-solvent, UV, and latex printing technologies, with up to 3 years of outdoor durability.
Can I use TeckWrap on motorcycles, boats, or other surfaces?
Yes. TeckWrap films work on a wide variety of smooth surfaces — motorcycles, boats, aircraft, laptops, appliances, furniture, and architectural applications. For surfaces other than painted automotive panels, contact us to confirm the right product for your use case.
