Most headlight tint is a cosmetic film that hazes, lifts, and leaves you scraping adhesive off a $900 lens two winters later. TeckWrap Lumex does not. It is a 330-micron TPU protection film that happens to be smoked, so the lens gains armor at the same time it goes dark.
Key attributes:
Lumex reads as a solid dark lens in daylight and gives the front end that closed, aggressive face without a respray or an aftermarket housing swap. At night the beam is noticeably reduced, which is why this shade belongs on show cars, track cars, and taillights more often than on a car that commutes down unlit roads. If you want the smoke with your low beams at full duty, take Spectra THL55 at 54% VLT instead.
Tint on forward-facing lights is regulated in most states and countries, so confirm your local rules before installing on headlights. Wet application gives you the working time to position it, and heat relaxes it into compound curves, but a lens this dark rewards an experienced installer.
Order Lumex and give the lens the same protection you already gave the paint.
How TeckWrap compares
Cheap film won't last a season. Legacy brands charge a brand premium. TeckWrap sits in the middle: professional-grade film at an honest price.
The cheap way
Saves money up front, then bubbles, fades and cracks within a season.
What it is made of
✕PVC tint film. Adds color and nothing else.
Lens safety on removal
✕Aggressive adhesive can lift the polycarbonate hard coat on removal.
Stretch and conformability
✕Tears on compound curves and lifts at the edges.
Yellowing and UV stability
✕Fades patchy. The lens ends up worse than untinted.
Light output and clarity
✕Hazy. Scatters the beam and cuts usable night vision.
Professional-grade film at an honest price. Reversible, paint-safe, and color-shifting.
What it is made of
TPU based, so it tints and takes stone chip.
Lens safety on removal
Heat removable and lens safe, with minimal residue.
Stretch and conformability
Stretches over modern lens shapes in one piece.
Yellowing and UV stability
Holds the shade without ambering over time.
Light output and clarity
Optically clear, beam pattern stays defined.
See the finish in person before you commit.
The legacy way
Comparable film, but you pay a brand premium.
What it is made of
–TPU protective tint. Comparable material at a legacy brand price.
Lens safety on removal
–Lens safe removal, at the higher price.
Stretch and conformability
High elongation TPU, comparable install behavior.
Yellowing and UV stability
UV stable across the warranty period.
Light output and clarity
Optically clear across the available shade range.
Headlight PPF FAQ
Protection that happens to be smoked, and the build proves it. Both shades are 330 μm TPU with a 210 μm (8.27 mil) application layer, which is PPF thickness, not tint thickness. The lens gains armor at the same time it goes dark, and a headlight assembly costs considerably more than the film.
THL55 Spectra if the car gets driven after dark. At 54 percent light transmission the lens reads visibly darker in daylight while the low beams stay sharp. THL30 Lumex at 30 percent is the blacked out show finish, and it belongs on taillights and cars that do not commute down unlit roads. Do not take the darker one and hope.
Yes, residue free. Peel adhesion is around 2200 g/inch, which is strong enough to hold edges flat on deep housings and still release without leaving glue on the lens.
Only if you are comfortable with wet application and heat. Product elongation is around 350 percent and coating elongation 110 percent, so it will conform to tight housings, but a deep housing needs heat and patience and a dark shade shows every mistake. Temperature resistance is 100°C (212°F), so keep the heat controlled.
Not with these figures. Haze is about 1.5 percent and UV resistance about 99 percent, with gloss around 90 GU at 60 degrees. Hazing and yellowing are what finishes cheap film after a season, and they are the reason people end up scraping adhesive off an expensive lens.
Yes, and this is the underrated benefit. Polycarbonate headlight lenses oxidize and yellow under UV, which is why old cars have foggy lights. A film blocking 99 percent of UV takes that exposure instead of the lens. You are preventing a restoration job as much as a stone chip.
Possibly, and it depends where you drive. Tint on forward facing lights is regulated in most states and countries, and enforcement varies. Taillights and headlights are usually treated differently. Check the rule where the car is registered before installing, not after.
