Description

Helios70 is a 4 mil ceramic film, roughly twice the gauge of a standard windshield tint.

Key attributes:

  • Visible light transmission (VLT): 70 ± 2%
  • Total solar energy rejected (TSER): 46 ± 2%
  • Infrared rejection (IRR): 88%
  • Ultraviolet rejection (UVR): over 99%
  • Internal visible light reflectance: 9%
  • 4 mil nano-ceramic, heavy gauge, 8-year warranty

Thickness is a safety specification, not a marketing number. At 4 mil the film raises penetration resistance by more than half against a conventional 2 mil product and holds over 90% of glass fragments in place if the windshield breaks, which is the difference between a cracked screen and glass in the cabin.

Optical performance is not sacrificed for the gauge. Infrared rejection reaches 88%, total solar energy rejection is 46% and visible light transmission holds at 70%, with ultraviolet rejection above 99%. The ceramic construction is signal transparent.

This is the specification to quote for high value vehicles, executive transport and any application where occupant protection is part of the buying decision. Heavier film demands more skill to shrink and squeegee, so professional installation is not optional here.

Application

Professional installation strongly recommended
Apply at +17°C to +23°C in a dust-free environment
Service temperature range: -45°C to +45°C
Wet application with slip and tack solutions
Tools: squeegee with soft buffer, hard card, heat gun, knife, masking tape, microfiber cloth, gloves, IR thermometer
Conformability: smooth and medium-curved glass
Directional film, check orientation before cutting
Overlap 3 to 4 mm where panels meet
Post-heat to set the adhesive once the film is squeegeed out
Remove the protective cap before installation
Allow 7 to 14 days to cure before rolling the windows down
Do not clean the film for 7 days after installation
After cure, clean with an ammonia-free glass cleaner and a soft microfiber cloth only
Verify local window tint laws before installation. At 70% VLT this film clears the 70% threshold applied to front side windows in many regions, though some still prohibit any film on the windshield below the AS-1 line.
