Automotive Market in Kazakhstan

The automotive market in Kazakhstan has been growing steadily over the past few years. According to a report by Focus2move, the vehicle market in Kazakhstan has been on the rise for the past 11 months, with new vehicle registrations at 16,965 in September 2023, which is a 44.7% increase from the previous year. The year-to-date figures up to September 2023 are up 56.2% from the previous year, with 134,102 new vehicle registrations.

According to a report by AUTOSTAT, the most popular car brands among residents of Kazakhstan are LADA, Hyundai, Toyota, Ravon, Kia, Renault, Nissan, Volkswagen, Lexus, and JAC.

Another report by Focus2move states that Hyundai is the new segment leader with 35,273 sales, followed by Chevrolet in second with 31,947 sales, and Kia in third with 18,583 sales. Chery has risen to the fourth position with 8,446 sales, which is a 244.5% increase from the previous year.

Auto Shows in Kazakhstan
There are several auto shows and car shows in Kazakhstan. One of the most significant events is the Automechanika Astana exhibition, the largest international exhibition of spare parts, automotive components, equipment, and vehicle maintenance products in Kazakhstan and Central Asia. The exhibition is held annually at the International Exhibition Center EXPO in Astana. The next event is scheduled to take place from 17 to 19 April 2024.

The future of the automotive market in Kazakhstan is expected to be positive. According to a report by PwC, the automotive market in Kazakhstan has been negatively impacted by the recent macroeconomic and geopolitical instability in the region, which led to a drop in oil prices and the devaluation of the tenge.

However, the report also highlights that the automotive industry in Kazakhstan is expected to grow in the long term, with the government’s support for developing the automotive industry and the country’s strategic location as a gateway to the Eurasian Economic Union.
