Dear Customer,
We are informing you of an important update that may impact your future orders shipped from China or Hong Kong to the United States.
Effective May 2, 2025, the U.S. government will officially eliminate the de minimis exemption for goods from China and Hong Kong. Previously, this exemption allowed shipments valued at or below $800 USD to enter the U.S. without import duties or taxes. With the new changes, even low-value shipments will now be subject to duties and postal fees.
What to Expect:
Beginning May 2, 2025, all goods from China and Hong Kong under $800 will incur:
- A duty of 120% of the item’s value.
- A postal fee of $100 per package.
On June 1, 2025, the postal fee will increase to $200 per package.
These changes apply across all shipping channels—postal, courier, and freight—ensuring no exceptions based on the shipping method.
Why This Matters: This decision follows several policy shifts by U.S. authorities earlier this year and is part of a broader trade strategy. While the de minimis rule remains unchanged for most other countries, the U.S. is reviewing the policy and may implement further adjustments.
What You Can Do: If you are planning an order, we recommend placing it before May 2, 2025, to avoid the additional charges.
Alternatively, you can order full rolls from our U.S. 3PL warehouses with free shipping. In this case, your order will ship domestically within the U.S., and customs duties will not apply.
Starting May 2, 2025, the following rule will apply:
- If shipping is charged at checkout, the goods are dispatched from China, and duties will be applied.
- If shipping is free, the goods are being shipped from our U.S. warehouses, and no duties will be charged.
If you're unsure about the shipping origin, you can always contact our sales support team prior to ordering to confirm.
We are also actively exploring additional shipping and logistics solutions to help reduce future costs and provide more flexibility for our customers.
At TeckWrap, we remain committed to transparent communication and customer support. If you have questions about how these changes may affect your orders, please don’t hesitate to contact us.
Thank you for your continued trust in TeckWrap.
Warm regards,
The TeckWrap Team
