Do not wrap vehicle with vinyl film when it is wet

There can be different challenges when wrapping a car with vinyl wrap film. Having the vehicle turn up wet is definitely one of those that can be intervened right away.

It might happen to be raining outside, so the vehicle gets wet just before being wrapped. Whatever the reason, you cannot leave the car in this position and wrap it with vinyl wrap film because water will go behind the material, affecting the wrap's durability. The film will not stick well in this situation, and it might lift over time.

When a car is wet, it usually takes 24 hours to become totally dry because there is moisture underneath areas like moldings and lights. However, we do not always have the time to wait. Is there anything you can do to speed up the drying process? The answer is yes!

Air compressor

A portable air compressor is a powerful tool to use in this situation. It can blow the water out of areas that are hard for you to reach, for example, cracks, curves, and edges between sections like the bumper and the fender. But it is deafening, so you might want to get protection for your ears before starting it.

Manual work

Not everyone has an air compressor. So what do you do in this case? A squeegee, paper towel, and heat gun can help you out. Use a paper towel to wipe away the majority of water on the surface.

When handling sections that can be opened, for example, doors and trunk, you can open it and slam it after the first wipe. This will help pop the water behind out, and you can wipe it away.

After wiping away the water on the main surface, you can use your heat gun to heat the area. Then, when the major area becomes dry again, put your squeegee in a paper towel to slide through all edges. Repeat this process until you have the paper towel come out dry.

This method will take more time than using an air compressor, but it works well, too. Either way, do not put a vinyl wrap film on a wet car. Taking the time to dry it out properly can help you avoid many potential problems in the future. Learn more wrap tips at teckwrap.com
